Women Found Dead in Placerville Fire Died of Gunshot Wounds

El Dorado County Sheriff's Department is now saying that two women who died in a house fire in Placerville on Friday died of gunshot wounds.

Their bodies were discovered in the burned residence in the 1600 block of Rose Lane at 5:48 am on Friday.

The victims have been identified as 62-year-old Carol Hague, a resident of the house, and 58-year-old Crystal Ann Ward.

The El Dorado County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and determined the women died of gunshot wounds. How they received the gunshot wounds remains under investigation.

Arson investigators are also trying to determine the cause of the fire.
