Today Marks 10th Anniversary of First Gay Marriage in SF

Today marks the historic 10th anniversary of the first same-sex marriages in San Francisco.

A special ceremony this evening at city hall will feature speeches from Mayor Ed Lee and former mayor Gavin Newsom, who was the first public official to push for marriage equality.

On this day in 2004, Newsom officiated the city's first gay wedding of Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon, who had been together for 50 years.
