There is prosperity in Sacramento: The capital city does pretty well in a key economic indicator.
According to the Prosperity Index from the Center for Strategic Economic Research, Sacramento has moved up to seventh place on the list outpacing Salt Lake City and Phoenix and has even surpassing Los Angeles.
The regions success is based on improvements in four major compenents of the index: Economy, Livability, Sustainability, and Residents.

But the sharp increase in resident quality -- driven by high college enrollment numbers, high school progress and household income -- made an overall positive for Sacramento.
