San Francisco Home to Most Visited Spot in National Park Service

The Bay Area is home to the most visited spot in the National Park Service.

More than 14-million people visited the Golden Gate National Recreation Area making it the top locale among the 401 National Park sites.

The federally run group of historic places in the Bay Area includes Alcatraz and Fort Mason.

The Golden Gate beat out last year's number one, the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was third followed by The George Washington Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.
