Sacramento Shows Love for Sign Lady

Sacramento Shows Love for Sign Lady

If you've been to a Sacramento Kings game -- or watched one on TV -- or seen a Kings commercial or the documentary "Small Market/Big Heart," you've seen the Sign Lady.

The Sign Lady is longtime Kings fan Barbara Rust, who along with her husband, Niko, have been Kings season ticket holders for 28 years. Barbara got her name for holding up big signs supporting the team at every home game for nearly three decades.

On Thursday, the Rusts got bad news. Barbara Rust was diagnosed with breast cancer. As devastating as that news can be, what happened next was inspiring. Kings fans rallied around her on social media. Someone started a campaign that asked people to Tweet their love to the Sign Lady on Twitter using the hashtag #LoveforSignLady.

And the Tweets started coming in, not just from fans, but from players such as Tyreke Evans and Bobby Jackson. From Mayor Kevin Johnson, everyone told the Sign Lady how much she meant to them -- and the team.

KFBK contacted the family. They are asking for their privacy at this time. But Husband Niko told KFBK: "The bigger story here is how incredible Kings Fans are in their support."

KFBK sends her and her family our best wishes and thoughts.
