Growing frustration. Thousands of Californians will be without their unemployment checks into next week as the state still deals with a huge backlog of claims. A glitch during computer upgrades on Labor Day marked thousands of accounts as not needing payment, and the problem has only grown since then.
An Employment Development Department spokeswoman says they're working through the night to process 60 thousand complaints and as you can imagine there's plenty of anger. Some claimants have taken to online forums and KCRA says others have made threats against EDD employees.
