President Obama has announced a new public-private campaign to decrease the number of Americans on long term unemployment rolls.
He describes it as an effort to put a dent in the long term unemployment list. The President met with business leaders who have agreed to give long time job seekers a fair shot, and he said government will do the same.
"We really don't have an alternative, because giving up on the unemployed will create a drag on the economy that we cannot tolerate," Obama said.
He's prodding Congress to renew long term unemployment insurance.
