A government shutdown is on the horizon, and there’s no sign that it is stopping. It will be the first government shutdown in 17 years as House Republicans continue to hold strong against a bill that doesn’t affect President Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act.
The House is preparing a third legislative effort to hand back to the Senate, guaranteeing a late night clash over the health care law that will again meet defeat in the Senate.
Obama seems appalled by the actions of the House Republicans, "One faction of one part in one house of Congress in one branch of government doesn't get to shut down the government just to re-fight results of the last election," he said in an afternoon announcement Monday.
