Central Vally Farmers already worried about a dwindling water supply could now be subjected to increased regulation. The regions Water Quality Control Board approved new rules for monitoring water contamination. More testing and oversight could affect 72 hundred valley growers that own land in Fresno, Tulare, Kings, and Kern counties. Researchers at UC Davis say 96 percent of ground water contamination can be traced back to agriculture.
