New Poll Shows Magnitude of Digital Divide in California

A new survey shows there's a big difference in those Californians who use the Internet and those who don't.

This latest Field Poll finds the Internet is used mostly by people with distinct advantages.

"Over 95 percent of Californians aged 18 to 29, college graduates, and also those with annual incomes of $60,000 or more say they're using the Internet," Poll author Mark DiCamillo said.

DiCamillo says people over 65, lower income earners, and Spanish-speaking Latinos report using the Internet the least.

A study released in January this year shows countries with the greatest use of the Internet see greater Gross Domestic Product numbers -- up to 2.5 percent more.
