Man Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting in South Sacramento

A 27-year-old man was shot in an officer involved shooting on Seavey Circle in South Sacramento on Monday.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call around 11 a.m. on the 100 block Seavey Circle in South Sacramento.

Callers to 911 said the man was threatening them and saying he was going to shoot someone, according to Sacramento Police Capt. Mike Bray. Several calls came in regarding the suspect, including a call from the suspect himself saying that he was going to shoot someone.

The male who was described in the calls -- wearing a peacoat and pants -- was found outside an apartment, where police came into contact with him, Bray said.

The subject had one hand concealed and told officers if they came any closer he would shoot, Bray said. The officers tried to negotiate with the subject to show his hands and step back. The subject kept stating that he was going to shoot the officers.

The subject allegedly shouted to the police, "Shoot me."

At some point the man charged the officers and an officer opened fire at the man.

He was wounded and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No weapon was found on the man -- fake or real.

Fifteen to 20 police vehicles were on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

No officers were injured in the incident.
