Madison Elementary on Lock Down After Reports of Nearby Shooting

NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. -- Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were called to an apartment complex on Madison Avenue in North Highlands around 3:30 this afternoon after shots were fired.

When they arrived on the scene they found two men had been shot after an altercation in one of the apartments.

"About a half an hour later, a third gunshot wound victim arrived at the same hospital -- unknown whether or not it was connected to this case,"  Lt. Tim Curan said.

Curan says a nearby school Madison Elementary was locked down as a precaution.

The lock down has been lifted at this time.

The suspect description is vague. All investigators know is that he is a black male.
