Judge: Eminent Domain Case Will Stay in Sacramento

A Sacramento Superior Court judge said today he expects to reject an attempt to relocate the city of Sacramento's lawsuit to take the Macy's men store at the Downtown Plaza as part of eminent domain to build a new arena.

Judge Robert Hight, in a tentative ruling, said he wouldn't move the city's eminent domain lawsuit out of Sac County because he wasn't convinced there would be prejudice if the trial if held in Sacramento, according to The Sacramento Bee.

The city sued the owners of the former Macy's men store in January, saying they need the property to build a new sports and entertainment complex for the Sacramento Kings.

A hearing on the matter is set for tomorrow.
