2013 Was Record Breaking Year for California's Grape Harvest

Last year was a record-breaking year for California's grape harvest.

A record high 4.68 million tons of grapes were crushed in 2013.

Industry officials predicted the record crop last month during Sacramento's annual Unified Wine and Grape Symposium.

Red wine varieties made up for the largest share of last year's grape crush with slightly more than 2.4 million tons.

Chardonnay made up the largest percentage of white wine at 16.1 percent.

More acreage and good weather in the state is being credited for the record year.
