Think twice before taking Tylenol to help with a nasty hangover.
New research shows that combining acetaminophen and alcohol increase your risk of kidney disease, according to a study from the American Public Health Association Conference.
It’s not just a slight increase in risk either, it DOUBLES the odds of getting kidney disease.
Researchers involved with the study looked at data from the 2003-2004 U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and found that nearly half of people who took 1,200 mg acetaminophen or more per day and a light/ moderate use of alcohol (one drink a day for women) reported having kidney problems.
The study didn't look specifically at hangovers, but taking acetaminophen after drinking could pose a threat to your health because alcohol could still be in your system after a hangover.
